For some reason this blog would not post while I was at my mom's. I didn't feel like re-writing all the info so I'm going to do a little updating with the old updating
:0)! We are back from my mom's. The flight back went very well! Sophie slept the entire time, which was great until we got home and she was up until 12:30. I knew that Sophie had really grown while we were in KY, but I didn't realize just how much. When we got home and I started putting her in things such as her carrier or her bouncy I saw how big she has gotten! She is so much more alert...right now she is in her bouncy just looking at the flowers that hang down. I think that I'm going to see how she does with her activity blanket today (I know that's not what it's called, but I can't think of the real name :0)...).
Wow...lots to update on! We are currently in Kentucky visiting my mom. We've been here for two weeks now and we don't leave until Tuesday. Needless to say that I miss Joe something awful! He has to take two classes this quarter so I thought it would be a great opportunity to spend some time with my mom. Plus, it is nice to have some help during the nights :0)! Sophie did super on the flight up here!! At least that is what the man that sat next to me said. I was so proud of her especially given the fact that we were rushing like crazy to get to the airport!! I was doing great on time until I had to stop and pick up some medicine for Sophie which made us extremely late! I was positive that we were going to miss our flight!! I even called my mom to tell her that we were not going to make it. Traffic was horrible AND we were dead empty on gas. I was a nervous wreck the entire drive! We obviously made it, but once we arrived things didn't get much better. The lady that checked me in forgot to put on my ticket that I was traveling with a child even though I told her a thousand times not to forget. So after waiting for security I had to go back to the front to have them reprint me a ticket. All is well now though!
We thought Sophie was feeling better, but then she had a ROUGH couple of days. She was pitiful!! She would just scream out. I KNEW something was wrong because she doesn't cry! She would be smiling and then just cry out. I could tell she was in such pain! I called her doctor and he said that she might have an allergy to milk protein. He told me a special type of formula to try. I don't want to stop nursing her though so I am cutting out all diary products. Do you know what foods that cuts out...EVERYTHING practically :0)! She is on the formula for a few days to settle her stomach and give me a chance to get the milk protein out of my system. Pray that this works! I HATE seeing her in such pain!
She is getting so big! She even rolled over the other day. I was shocked!! She tried to do it again yesterday, but when she rolled there was something blocking her so she couldn't. It makes me sad because she isn't a newborn any more! Her personality is really starting to come out. She is such a happy baby!! She'll just smile and smile at me when I start talking to her! She however can get real upset if I don't feed her quickly enough. When she gets hungry she's ready to eat right then! I wonder who she gets that from :0)! She'll get her little left foot going so fast when she gets mad. It's hilarious to watch! She's been sleeping great too. The other night she slept from 9pm-5:30am. I'm really hoping she starts making this a habit
:0)!! For some reason it is not letting me download pictures, so I'll have to try again later...

One Month
Today Sophia turns one month old. She had on her cupcake outfit for her special day and I even got cupcakes to celebrate. However, she has had a hard day. She has been crying for a good part of the day and spitting up for the rest of it. I did not even get a picture of her cute outfit and we have yet to "celebrate" with a cupcake. I have to say that I am very disappointed because I was so excited to make this day special. I know I am a dork, but birthdays were a big deal in our family. There is something about her first "month" that I wanted to celebrate. I don't think we are going to be doing much of that tonight. Oh well, I guess there is always her real first birthday :0).

Eesh...talk about a changed life...what I heard from experienced parents was right, having a baby changes EVERYTHING :0)! Luckily, Joe and I feel as if we are finally starting to get into some type of routine. It amazes me how a productive day now is getting a shower and brushing my teeth. I'm doing really good to get that done. Haha, actually it's not quite that bad now, but it was! I've been out every day this week and most of those days both Sophie and I had our bathes before 9:30. I have to admit that I was beginning to get a little stir crazy with all that staying in! The past two weeks have been fabulous! We've gone to the mall with friends, out to eat with family, and tomorrow we have a play date! I guess it is more of a play date for the mommies because I don't really foresee two babies under 2 months actually playing :0)!
Sophie has a real bad case of acid reflux. It is absolutely heart breaking to see her in such pain! Last week was definitely the most trying time since she's been born. She cried for 3 days straight. Poor thing! The doctor put her on baby zantac and it seems to be helping. I have had to cut out any possible food item that could attribute to her reflux since she eats what I eat. From what I hear most babies do grow out of it. It has also affected her breathing. The doctor said that the nose and throat being connected is the cause of this. Sophie actually snores, bless her heart! I was very concerned, but the doctor seems to feel ok about it. Ha, I am such a new mom...Sophie has been to the doctor every week since she's been born. Granted 2 of those weeks was for check ups and the other 2 was due to her reflux. I still feel like I am the such the stereo type of a new mom.
Tomorrow Sophie will be a month old. I can not even believe it!! This month has flown by! I think that I'm going to get cup cakes to celebrate...and I guess I'll sacrificially eat one so that Sophie can have a taste :0)!

On my own...
Well, every one that came to visit Sophie left today...all at once. It has definitely been a sad day. My mom had been with me for almost 3 weeks (she missed some days while she was with my grandfather) so I am really feeling the void of her not being here!! Not only was she such an incredible help and blessing with Sophie, but we had a blast together during her visit! I am blessed to have such a terrific, caring, and fun mother! She definitely has become my best friend...which is why I'm praying that she'll move closer :0)!

Sophie has been having stomach problems which make her restless and uncomfortable. It is the hardest thing to watch because there is nothing I can do to make it go away. All I can do is hold her and try to bring as much comfort to her as possible. She's sleeping away on her daddy's chest right now. I'm so thankful because she has not been able to sleep longer than 45 minutes at a time today. Hopefully she (and I) will be able to get some sleep tonight!
Yesterday was Sophie's first time at church and also her dedication. What an experience!! I got up at 7:45 because I knew that it was going to take some time to get myself and her dressed. Boy, I had no idea just exactly how much time it would take!! It took 3 people - Joe, my mom, and myself - from 7:45 to 10:30 to get ourselves and her dressed! AND we were still late for church. Sophie looked beautiful though and was so good during church :0)! She did get hungry at one point, but luckily I was able to tell this up by her noises and was able to get out before she was crying. I could not get out of there faster! I was so afraid that I was going to be that mom where the baby is screaming and every one is watching her leave. There was two other moms in the cry room and it was a lot of fun sitting in there with them! I have to admit that I felt cool sitting in there feeding and talking about our babies, ha, I know, I'm such a dork! I just love being a mom!! Here are some pictures of Sophie's big day!

Our first week...and a day :0)
Our first week was great! We have been very blessed so far because Sophie has been sleeping really well. She typically only wakes up 2-3 times a night to feed and goes right back to sleep. She does have a fussy time for about an hour between any where from 9pm-11pm. She has started to open her eyes more and stay awake longer during the day. I absolutely love it because she will just lay there and look around. I'm starting to learn her noises and actually sleep :0).
On Sunday we received a call that my grandfather had collapsed at church and was unconscious. My mom left immediately to be with him. They thought at first that he had either a heart attack or a stroke, but it turned out that he had a heart aneurysm. He had emergency surgery that night, and it went extremely well! He is doing better than the doctors expected. Sunday was definitley a trying day because I am very close to my grand parents. I HATED that I could not be there for him and the rest of my family. I am so thankful that he is going to be ok. I do ask that you will remember him in your prayers! He has a long recovery ahead of him.

Sophia Grace Quesenberry
Sophia Grace was born at 1:35pm on Monday (Dec 29)...and is pure perfection! I know that I am a little biased and that every mother feels that way, but hey, it's part of being a mom, right :0)? She weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long. Over all it was a pretty good labor...besides the fact that I only had an epidural for 2.5 hrs of the 14. Giving birth is such a miracle!! It truly is such an indescribable experience!! Here are some pictures of our precious baby girl...
